Part of the official merch for our 10th anniversary party, this cheerful patch by Mermaid Meadow will let the world know you're a friend of the sea. The happy sperm whale swims along in surf colors - get it? - grateful to have a buddy like you.

Periwinkle blue doubles up a candy cane border surrounding an orange sky, turquoise waters, coral, sea grasses, and a white whale in a Swedish folk art style. The patch itself spells out "Friend of the Sea" on a banner in the artist Bevin Holmberg's dynamic handwriting. Welcome to Whale Club!

Patch is die cut with a bright multi-color design and iron on backing. We recommend sewing as well for extra durability.

- Measures 4" x 3"
- Iron on backing

Bevin Strider Holmberg of Mermaid Meadow in Falmouth, Maine, wanted to be a marine biologist when she was grew up! She continues to grow, and her dream is evolving toward being an artist activist in the most gentle and sweet way. Hosting fundraisers to support some of her favorite animal organizations, Bevin works to raise awareness and keep these special ocean creatures top of mind.

She obtained a B.F.A. in Studio Art from James Madison University and holds a Master of Education in Art from the University of Minnesota. As a nod to her family's roots, Bevin finished her masters program with summer study at Säterglänten Institute for Slöjd (traditional handicrafts) in Insjön and Stockholm, Sweden.

While in Minnesota, she lived and participated in the Tilsner Artist Cooperative in St. Paul, worked as a sign painter, and taught drawing lessons to elementary-age students. Locals will recognize her work at the Trader Joe's in Portland and on banners in the Old Port.

From the Artist:

I moved to the beautiful state of Maine (2010), and as an artist, was inspired by its rustic charm. I started painting on old boards from barns that had fallen under disrepair and lost their use. I love painting on the wood because each piece is unique and adds a layer of texture and history.
