“Ever since I was little, I have been interested in the marine mammals that swim through our seas,” says Bevin Holmberg, the artist behind Mermaid Meadow*, a Falmouth-based small business. “It is important to me to create artwork of sea life—unique and endangered species—so that others are encouraged to enjoy, conserve, and protect what is precious.” Bevin will have her artwork displayed at a Whale Club 2026! Painted barn wood, colorful ceramics, stickers, and tote bags will be present!

Whale Club 2026 with Mermaid Meadow Within the Whale and Marine Mammals of Maine in Midcoast Maine Artisan Store The Good Supply Pemaquid Made in USAHolmberg and Catherine McLetchie, who started The Good Supply, have long shared a dream to work with Within the Whale**, a program (pictured above) that uses a life-sized inflatable model of a 10-year-old humpback whale to teach people about marine biology and conservation. The dream is coming true!

Whale Club 2026 will be the first opportunity for peninsula locals and visitors to explore whale anatomy and ocean conservation topics in an immersive and memorable way right here on the peninsula!

Within the Whale Club 2026 Mermaid Meadow and Marine Mammals of Maine in Midcoast Maine Artisan Store The Good Supply Pemaquid Made in USAWith so much support for our ocean creatures, Marine Mammals of Maine*** will also be present to share information about their stranding response work across roughly 2,500 miles of Maine’s coastline (including islands), covering the geographic area of Kittery to Rockland as the only organization federally authorized to carry out this work in southern and midcoast Maine.

The event will be fun, informative, and offer a new way to connect with our local marine wildlife. No tickets or registration required. All ages are welcome to attend Whale Club.

** Within the Whale

Jessica Woodend turned a lifelong passion for marine education into a traveling business with a unique twist. Based in Topsham, Within the Whale brings marine mammal science directly to Maine schools, libraries, and summer camps by featuring a life-sized inflatable humpback whale named Chunk. The real-life Chunk was a beloved humpback whale frequently seen in the Gulf of Maine, known for her distinctive dorsal fin, which had a “chunk” missing—hence, her name. Unfortunately, Chunk passed away in the summer of 2024 after becoming entangled in fishing nets off the coast of Cape Elizabeth Maine highlighting the dangers marine life faces from human activities.

*** Marine Mammals of Maine

Marine Mammals of Maine (MMoME) was founded in 2011 by Executive Director Lynda Ada Doughty and concerned volunteers to respond to the nearly 300 marine mammal and sea turtle stranding calls annually. They operate a 24/7 reporting hotline where anyone can report a stranded seal, whale, dolphin, porpoise, or sea turtle to an experienced, dedicated and compassionate team ready to respond.
