Gotland Sheep are known for their silky and lustrous wool. Originating in Sweden, the breed boasts supremely soft sheepskin pelts, which are of a curly fleece and often used for interior design.

A luxury unlike any other is to wake up from a deep sleep, shift your legs to the side of the bed, and to sink bare feet into something so soft and lovely. Pelts are great on the floor for comfort and warmth and also offer extra cushion on a chair or couch.

Shepherds Craft Farm in Whitefield, Maine, is run by Laurel Banks. By operating the farm using rotational grazing practices, Laurel has created a grass-based and sustainable system with benefits that include breed integrity and enriched earth.

Trusty Border Collies named Lil and Iris move the sheep to a new pasture daily while two Great Pyrenees guard the flock.

The sheep are integral players in their neighborhood mowing fields for Sheepscot General Store and providing milk for Fuzzy Udder Creamery. Visit the farm in March during Maine Maple Sunday activities - there's a hay ride and sugar shack tour for all to enjoy!
