• The Good Supply Hosts Art Exhibition - Ed Strausberg Dioramas: US Marine Corps in the Pacific

The Good Supply Community Events Pemaquid Maine Ed Strausberg War Dioramas

Pemaquid, ME (May 7, 2015) An exhibition of handmade dioramas built by Vietnam veteran Ed Strausberg will be on display through the end of June at The Good Supply in Pemaquid. The public is invited to join the artist at a reception to be held from 5:30 pm - 7:30pm on Friday, May 22nd at The Good Supply’s post and beam storefront.

Strausberg, a Bristol Mills resident, meticulously depicts battle scenes from the Korean War and WWII. Using images found in history books for inspiration, Strausberg creates his dioramas to further educate the public about the perils of war.

His work has been shown at the West Point Museum and the Naval War College among other reputed institutions. He desires for his models to travel to schools and libraries to inspire the public (and children specifically) to study history. In fact, Strausberg began building models at the age of eight after seeing Revolutionary War dioramas during a class trip.

Being able to see a moment in history - a place and time with real people - in three dimensions allowed him to relate war and military service in a new way. Recognizing the true danger soldiers face, Strausberg says, “We should always think twice before sending our troops into harms way, and make sure that’s the only option. I generally build these dioramas to remind us of what it takes to make war - the people who serve and the people who actually fight the war.”
