Heidi Boyd is the author of fifteen craft books with subjects that range from sewing to beading and recycled crafting. Her most recent titleFairytale Sewing was released late Fall of 2014 by F+W Media. Heidi's a regular contributor to Interweave's Stitch and BH&G Special Interest magazines. Her goal is to make sophisticated design approachable and easy for all.
Heidi has a fine art degree and began her creative career as an art director for a New England regional lifestyle magazine. After moving to Iowa she taught at the Des Moines Art Center, where she developed mixed media curriculum based on the museum's collections. She also brought hands on workshops to at risk communities.
Heidi got her start in professional crafting as a contributor to Better Homes and Gardens books and magazines. She created projects for the BH&G Kids section of the flagship publication. She was contributing editor to Crayola Kids magazine. For the last fifteen years her designs have appeared in Better Homes and Gardens Special Interest Halloween and Holiday magazines. Her work can also be found on the Craftsy crafting videos platform, Gooseberry publications, and several televised DIY segments on HGTV and PBS networks.
