123 Gulls offers a fresh take on a counting book, as a trio of intrepid seagulls makes its way through an island winter wonderland. They skate, ski, and collect items, counting down from ten mittens to one snowy surprise.

The gulls also experience 50 and 100, until one moon puts them to sleep in the end. Little ones can start by learning numbers while early counters will have fun finding all the items. Parents and caregivers will appreciate the playful rhyming text as they lead children through this snowy counting adventure.

Beth Rand is a self-taught illustrator who has published her own line of greeting cards and a poster calendar featuring Maine imagery. Since graduating from the University of Maine, she has made Maine her home. For twenty years, she and her husband lived in Cape Elizabeth, where they successfully raised three children. Then they hopped on the ferry to Peaks Island and never looked back. Rand now lives on the island with her husband and dog, in a home surrounded by seagulls, sunshine, and salt air.

Islandport Press is a dynamic, award-winning publisher dedicated to stories rooted in the essence and sensibilities of New England. They strive to capture and explore the grit, heart, beauty, and infectious spirit of the region by telling tales, real and imagined, that can be appreciated in many forms by readers, dreamers, and adventurers everywhere.

Almost 25 years ago, publisher Dean Lunt started Islandport Press in his Yarmouth basement and shipped early book orders from his garage, at times in temperatures so cold he had to plug in spot heaters so the tape would stick to the cardboard boxes. Today, Islandport Press has published more than 200 titles, not only original works, but also out-of-print books that they have revived and brought new attention for both the book and the author. Finding hidden gems, whether in the guise of a new author or a forgotten classic, is something in which they take great pride.
