Mulxiply is based in Portland, Maine. Their admirable mission is to work with organizations that provide sustainable, fair trade, and creative work to indigenous artisans in developing nations.

Tanja Cesh is the founder and principal designer behind Mulxiply’s collection of modern bags, jewelry, and handmade gifts. With nearly 25 years of work experience in the fashion and branding industry, Tanja continues to freelance as an art director and graphic designer while investing her skills and knowledge in social entrepreneurship.

Mulxiply grew out of Tanja’s decision in 2010 to leave her career in the fashion industry and redirect her life’s work to learning how to help combat human trafficking and exploitation. Her travels that year led her to Nepal, a country rich in heritage handicraft that is also beset with rural poverty. She saw an opportunity to make a difference in villages she visited.

Growing her business organically, Tanja has focused on building deep and lasting relationships with her partner communities in Nepal.

Mulxiply’s signature line aims to create quality products with a minimalist, modern design coupled with materials and techniques native to the region in which they are produced. Because these products are made with fair trade labor, when someone purchases their products - or gifts them to a lucky friend - everyone wins. It’s the multiply effect.

From the Artist:

Our pieces each have a story. Each one is unique. While I design them, my great joy comes in seeing them come to life when I collaborate with the artisans who physically produce my designs in Nepal. They are  the true masters and I am endlessly learning from them.
