Pemaquid, ME (May 7, 2014) An exhibition of handmade wooden miniatures built by Huston Dodge over a period of 50 years will be on display through the end of June at The Good Supply in Pemaquid. The public is invited to join the artist and show curator Kenneth Kortemeier at a reception to be held from 5:30 pm - 7:30pm on Friday, May23rd at The Good Supply’s post and beam storefront.

Dodge, a 96 year old Damariscotta native, began creating these miniature models while in high school in the 1930s. They represent historical buildings, many of them local to the Bristol Peninsula. In fascination of 17th and 18th century architecture and building techniques, many of Dodge’s creations are a record of structures that were neglected, abandoned, or torn down during his lifetime.

Woodworker and teacher Kenneth Kortemeier has curated the exhibition to honor Dodge’s remarkable craftsmanship and the local history his work has preserved. This exhibit, which includes  10 miniatures, makes it possible to observe many historically accurate building details including floor plans, interior trim, post and beam construction, and period hardware.

The Good Supply owner Catherine Walton is thrilled to host this noteworthy exhibit and opening reception – one of many ways the company highlights the work of local artisans.  At work with Kortemeier to document the exhibit, she says, “Mr. Dodge’s work is intricate, complete with built-in corner cupboards in an old Rte. 130 farmhouse and working parts in an old Round Pond mill.  It is something both grandparents and grandchildren will delight in seeing.”
