Our host is award-winning Maine ceramic artist Tim Christensen, an avid educator and environmentalist who focuses on Sgraffito in porcelain. Of the art form, which is accomplished by decoratively scoring through a layer of slip to reveal the clay below, Tim advises, "Draw around something to depict it."

Materials are included for this class, which is open to students in 3rd grade through 5th grade.

Each week, a new virtual clay project will engage kids and get their creative energy flowing! All materials will be included, and we will cover topics such as pinch pot, slab construction, sgraffito, coil building, and sculpture. We will even have a Pottery Throwdown Contest!

Students will pick-up and drop-off materials at The Good Supply or have them mailed via USPS. (Alternative locations may be worked out based on participant needs.)

Beginning Thursday, March 18 and ending Thursday, May 13, class will meet weekly from 4pm-5pm via Zoom*. Tim will host from his studio in Downeast, Maine.

Emphasis in this fun and fast-paced class will be placed on class community, building clay skills, considered planning, and quality communication. Expect a 1-hour class each Thursday for 9 weeks with no experience necessary.

Please contact Catherine at c.walton@thegoodsupply.org with questions.

*In addition to the Zoom schedule, there will be options for 3 outdoor meet-ups during kiln firings.
